So that’s it! We are finished with all recordings after 3 months of fun, hard work, creativity and pain ;-) I have mixed feelings. On one hand it’s great to know that you gave your best and created something special, on the other hand it’s some kind of sad because recording means also a lot of fun. Now it’s time for Andy to mix and master the songs and I can’t wait to hear the result because I’m damn sure it will be an awesome-heavy sound!

But of course there are a lot more cool things to come, like our shooting next week. We are very excited to work with famous Alex Kuehr again – you can be too ;-) We also want to start the “gig-machinery” so I hope we will be able to play a lot of shows and festivals next year – maybe even in other countries, but at the moment that’s just a dream =)

 

As you can see, there is a lot going on in the VoD-camp and we will keep you updated!

We’ve got some good news for you: three more songs are almost completed! Two songs composed by Chris were already done at the weekend and Lukas, Jens and me were at the Red Room today to add the female lines to another one. I think it will be one of my favorite songs on the new album,  I really enjoy singing it! There are just a few songs left to be done but we surely show you some more impressions from the vocal sessions during the next week!

Unfortunately yesterday was the last day of the vocal recordings for now. Nearly everyone is going on holidays for at least 2 weeks and I have to work for university. 4 songs are done so far and they sound great! It was a very funny and productive week and the boys of our male choir joint us to finish it with a tasty barbecue last night. Thanks for all the support till now!

All vocal lines for the opener of our upcoming album were recorded at Andy’s studio and it sounds awesome!

So the score for completed songs says ‘Maike 3 : 2 Lukas’ and we will head back to the Red Room for more vocal sessions on friday.
It’s not like we were only getting a day off to let our voices rest a little. Tomorrow, the guys forming our male choir will enter the Krabbesackduschder Studios to finally record what we were trying out last week.
And there is also more keyboards to be done.

Today we are going to finish the fifth song in terms of orchestra and keyboards! After that we continue straight with another song of course.

I can’t wait to head for Andy’s Red Room and record some nice vocal lines! Even the makeshift vocals we recorded here without paying attention to the right mic position etc. sound fricking good. So I’m quite sure it will blow you away. Maike’s voice just sounds better than ever!

 

I also can reveal a little secret: We are also planning to shoot a video! Of course we team up again with mastermind Michael Colella.

Right now we are just in the drafting stage but if everything works out well, I’m quite optimistic that we will be able to shoot a video!

 

But first of all let’s start the day with a nice breaktfast =)

So, 5 songs are pretty much done with all the keyboard and orchestra stuff. Sounds heavy and we can’t wait to go on and finish the rest.
However, today we gonna check out some additional vocals and see if we can create our own little choir. Therefore some friends will hit the studio (acutally in about 15 minutes :S).
Let’s see how this works out! Would be great to have some more people participating in this project! \m/

Last weekend we finished the reamping of the bass! It’s such a mighty sound – I just love it! It just makes everything a little bit more heavy and “in your face” ;)

I also recorded the guitar for 1 1/2 songs. So there are just 1 1/2 left =) At least regarding the rythm guitars. So what’s next!?

I will finish recording the rythm guitars in 3 weeks because there’s a lot to do for the university. But after that I have a lot of time to do overdubs and soli! I can’t wait =)

 

Our nightsession also was very productive and we created our own orchestra (soundwise ;) ) and recorded (especially Lukas) some nice lines!

So I think there will be a lot more great nightsessions with a lot of creativity and a lot of energy drinks =)

This weekend I didn’t accomplish all my goals. First reason is studying second reason was, as Jens already wrote, that we tried to get a sweet crunchy bass sound. I think that worked out quite well. Anyway, this weekend I recorded all guitar tracks for just one song. But I also started recording some ideas for another one so it wasn’t that bad. I hope next weekend I’ll be finished with at least 2 more songs… as I said hope ;)

 

That’s all I can tell by now!

Here’s a short overview of what we did today.

This morning Chris recorded some guitar tracks.
I arrived at the Krabbesackduschder Studios in the afternoon and we tried to find an awesome bass sound using my new GT-2! We tested various combinations and microphone positions. After all I am not sure if the drive of the GT-2 isn’t too heavy for every situation!? Let’s see where we end up…

And, once again, I need to rebounce a track since there happend some weired things :( .

It’s the last day of the (short) holidays and I’m sitting alone at the Krabbesackduschder-Studios. Unfortunately Lukas is already heading back to Furtwangen and Jens has to work on a term paper. So I’m kind of “the last man standing” ;) It has  been a really productive, amazing and funny week! That’s why I’m a little bit sad. But looking ahead, there are a lot of great weekends with some nightsessions to come =)

Tomorrow I have to go to university again, too. So I try to record as much guitar-tracks as possible today. As I’m already working on the 6th song I’m optimistic that by this time next week I’ll be finished with the rythm-guitars.

 

As Jens already said: The new songs are the shit ;)
